AUDUBON CERTIFIED COURSES
The value of green building
At Robert Trent Jones II® (RTJ II) our golf course design philosophy holds that environmental sensitivity and responsibility are essential aspects of every project. In many cases, our work improves water quality and wildlife habitat, preserves green spaces that will not be paved over or developed, and creates giant filters that sequester carbon.
Audubon International has recognized 22 of our courses with its prestigious “Certified Sanctuary” designation. Our Founder, Robert Trent Jones Jr., has been known as the father of environmental course design since long before green building became popular. President and Chief Design Officer Bruce Charlton expanded the firm’s environmental mission as 2008- 2009 President of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and by helping to create RTJ II’s Green Proclamation, a manifesto of environmental principles that the firm has called upon other golf course architects to support in their work.
