The Woodlands Golf Course at Sunriver Resort offers a serene trek through ponderosa pines in the fragrant air of sunny Central Oregon. The Woodlands helped propel this resort and residential community-and all of Central Oregon into a nationally renowned golf destination. The entire property is set amid high desert meadows and forests. Trout streams wind through the site, and a number of Cascade Mountain peaks are visible on the western horizon.
Knowing that resort golfers were among Sunriver's target audience, golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II focused on strategic challenges, such as sharp doglegs and elevated greens rather than emphasizing length in our design. Playing 6,880 yards from the back tees (at an elevation of 4,500 feet), the Woodlands creates challenges through narrow fairways, sparkling lakes, and carefully placed bunkers. Tight chipping areas around the greens add to the shot-making requirements. The layout also encompasses old-growth trees (occasionally interloping onto a fairway, but typically sheltering surrounding homes from errant shots), volcanic rock outcroppings, and other elements of the natural environment that were preserved during design and construction.
In addition to the stunning landscape, Sunriver Resort boasts another golfing gem: a selection of top-notch Oregon golf courses to delight players of all levels. To ensure the perfect round of golf, guests can easily book their preferred tee times at The Woodlands Golf Course or explore other equally captivating courses nearby. This is truly a great destination for golfers.
Whether you're seeking the thrill of navigating challenging fairways lined by dense forests or yearning to bask in the sun while teeing off against the backdrop of cascading mountain peaks, Central Oregon has it all. From scenic courses meandering through old-growth trees to links-style layouts with breathtaking desert views, golfers will find an unparalleled golfing experience amidst the diverse and picturesque landscapes of this Northwest golf paradise.
