Construction on $350M Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Eleuthera to begin in two weeks

Eyewitness News Bahamas

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Construction on the Ritz-Carlton Reserve at Cotton Bay, Eleuthera, will begin in two weeks, with the project moving “full steam ahead” with its size has increased by 30 percent since the Heads of Agreement was signed in 2021 and the total investment having risen to $350 million, according to an executive.

Daniel Zuleta, Managing Director of Construction at Cotton Bay Holdings Ltd., confirmed that equipment is already on-site and construction mobilization is underway. “We’re bringing 110 guest rooms and 97 residences, expanding the scope beyond initial projections. The development will also feature an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr,” he said.

The increased investment includes a commitment to creating 400 construction jobs and over 600 jobs once the resort becomes operational.

“We don’t want Cotton Bay to be just another resort. Our goal is to redefine luxury by ensuring that nature is preserved rather than displaced, that local communities benefit first, and that sustainability is measurable,” said Zuleta.

He emphasized that at least 60 percent of food and supplies will be sourced from Bahamian businesses to maintain a low carbon footprint.

“We are creating a 47-acre solar farm that will supply 100 percent of the 10 megawatts needed to power the resort,” Zuleta noted.
